Standards Old and New
Joel Conner (guitar, vocals) and Cathy Hurt (flute) offer a unique take on classic jazz standards and more modern songs they feel belong to that category. Beside the Timeless Feel of song like "Autumn Leaves," "Summertime" and "I Can’t Give You Anything But Love," they play songs like "Temptation" (Tom Waits), "Superstar" (Leon Russell), and "Smooth Operator" (Sade), plus a few originals in the same style.
Cathy and Joel have been playing together on and off since their days in Undercover, one of Indy’s top blues bands in the early '90s, through the rock classics of their band Cyan Aura and coffeehouses in the mid-'00s. Cathy currently plays sax and some flute in Day Job Blues, while Joel plays around Indiana doing the music of Simon & Garfunkel with Robert Bruce Scott as well as playing with the alt-rock/classic rock band The Future Retros.
