Celebrate the New Year at our Shinnenkai
Come join us for this popular annual tradition! We look forward to the delicious food items, many of which are authentic Japanese dishes. For this pitch-in luncheon, please bring a covered dish to share (salad, rice, vegetable, meat, or dessert). Paper goods, drinks, and ozoni will be provided by the chapter.
The Shinnenkai starts at 1:00 pm on Sunday, January 27, 2008, at the Indiana Humanities Building at 1500 North Delaware Street, Indianapolis. The warm, homelike setting is perfect for welcoming the new year together. Thanks to Nancy Conner who has made arrangements for the site over many years.
Family and friends are welcome!
News and Notes
A fond farewell to Michiko Selby who moved to Portland, Oregon in December, closer to son Jeff Selby and family. Michiko has many close friends here, and she has made generous and valuable contributions of talent and skills to Hoosier Chapter over the years. We were delighted to see Jeff at the Christmas party, and we congratulate him on his presidency of the Portland JACL Chapter. Many of us old-timers recall Jeff as a child attending Hoosier chapter events with his family many years ago, and we are please to see that he has grown into a fine young leader. We will certainly miss Michiko here, but wish her much happiness in Portland.
Ways & Means Chairpersons Yas and Ken Matsumoto report that through the hard work of members and friends of Hoosier Chapter, profit from the sale of chiyogami balls was $849. Yas and Ken would like to thank all who participated in this fund raising activity. Your efforts are greatly appreciated.
Thanks to all who helped make the Christmas Luncheon on December 9 a success. Special thanks to Joel Conner who provided musical entertainment.
